The NewSouth Bookstore actively hosts bookstore and off-site literary programs — book talks and readings — along with a variety of other programs both entertaining and educational. These include presentations by historians, readings of plays, music events, and community service programs. We enjoy such gatherings quite a lot. Our bookstore events calendar is always evolving, so please regularly check back here for updates to our calendar (and/or follow us on social media, where all such activities are also posted). We welcome your event suggestions and thank you for your support.
Nate DiMeo, creator and host of the award-winning podcast The Memory Palace, travels to Montgomery to talk about his new book of the same name, a book which is a brilliant tapestry of history and storytelling. In The Memory Palace DiMeo gives us small stories about very big things, stories that “conjure the enchantments that reside in the subtle and unseen” (Kirkus). Adds Ken Burns about the work, “DiMeo asks each of us to engage in an act of empathetic imagination, to see in the stories of others something inherently human, something that transcends time and which often provokes a feeling of joy.” Come discover more about Nate DiMeo’s literary magic at The NewSouth Bookstore on Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30pm.
