NewSouth Bookstore

The NewSouth Bookstore actively hosts bookstore and off-site literary programs — book talks and readings — along with a variety of other programs both entertaining and educational. These include presentations by historians, readings of plays, music events, and community service programs. We enjoy such gatherings quite a lot. Our bookstore events calendar is always evolving, so please regularly check back here for updates to our calendar (and/or follow us on social media, where all such activities are also posted). We welcome your event suggestions and thank you for your support.

Author Mary Annaïse Heglar is our special guest on Thursday, May 30 at 5:30pm, here to talk about the themes of her new novel, Troubled Waters, an unforgettable story of climate crisis, Black resistance, and the enduring power of family. Heglar will be in conversation with Kandeaux, a Tuskegee University alumna with a BS in Agricultural Business with a concentration on sustainability. She is the founder of The Farm Plug. We love how the bookstore gives us the opportunity to introduce new voices to you, with stories that spark understanding and engagement. Please join us!
