The NewSouth Bookstore actively hosts bookstore and off-site literary programs — book talks and readings — along with a variety of other programs both entertaining and educational. These include presentations by historians, readings of plays, music events, and community service programs. We enjoy such gatherings quite a lot. Our bookstore events calendar is always evolving, so please regularly check back here for updates to our calendar (and/or follow us on social media, where all such activities are also posted). We welcome your event suggestions and thank you for your support.
Madiba K. Dennie is our special guest at The NewSouth Bookstore on Sunday, October 13 at 3pm. Her magnificent book, The Originalism Trap: How Extremists Stole the Constitution and How We the People Can Take It Back, offers a devastating critique of the way in which conservatives on the Roberts court have used originalism as an all-out attack on civil rights and social progress, thus undermining the full potential of our U.S. Constitution. Dennie is a legal scholar, whose commentary has been featured in The Atlantic and The Washington Post, on MSNBC, and elsewhere; she is deputy editor and senior contributor for Balls and Strikes. Come hear her talk about her new book and the issues it critically addresses.
