The NewSouth Bookstore actively hosts bookstore and off-site literary programs — book talks and readings — along with a variety of other programs both entertaining and educational. These include presentations by historians, readings of plays, music events, and community service programs. We enjoy such gatherings quite a lot. The NewSouth Bookstore is delighted to host the next Nora’s Playhouse Salon South reading. Join us on Monday, February 12 at 7pm at the bookstore.
Jacqueline Trimble directs They Must Be Women Now! by Nedra Pezold Roberts. Roberts is an Atlanta-based playwright. A former English and drama teacher, she took early retirement to write plays instead of directing them. Her works have had numerous production runs and staged readings and have won awards and competitions nationwide.
About the play: In a contemporary genesis of Euripides’ Antigone, a family of Southern women struggles to discern what needs to be buried, to understand the difference between the impulse to hide from pain and the strength to lay that pain to rest. These women are shaped by their time, their culture, and their individual journeys. It falls to them to discover themselves.
