The NewSouth Bookstore actively hosts bookstore and off-site literary programs — book talks and readings — along with a variety of other programs both entertaining and educational. These include presentations by historians, readings of plays, music events, and community service programs. We enjoy such gatherings quite a lot. Our bookstore events calendar is always evolving, so please regularly check back here for updates to our calendar (and/or follow us on social media, where all such activities are also posted). We welcome your event suggestions and thank you for your support.
Cassandra King Conroy is the author of numerous bestselling books, including Moonrise, The Sunday Wife, and The Same Sweet Girls, and most recently the memoir Tell Me a Story: My Life with Pat Conroy. Intimate and tender, Tell Me a Story describes her eighteen-year love story with legendary Southern writer Pat Conroy, the original Prince of Tides, even as she laments his passing. For her own literary gifts, Cassandra King is traveling to the Monroeville Literary Festival to receive the 2025 Harper Lee Award, and graciously agreed to stop for an evening at The NewSouth Bookstore. She’ll talk about her life and work, led in conversation by Randall Williams. Join us for a very special hour on Wednesday, February 26 starting at 5:30pm.
